Choosing Music

Choosing the Music for your Wedding.

Music can play an integral part of your wedding celebrations, from the isle music, to the first dance, not forgetting the after party, getting the music right can be as important as all the other aspects of the day! During the typical wedding, there will be some form of music playing throughout the entire day, from the walk down the isle, to the cocktail hour, dinner, first dance and the evening celebrations. To cover the duration of a wedding you do need a lot of music, generally in differing styles. that fit with the theme of your wedding and the general aspects of the day.

However, you do not need to be Traditional, your wedding music should fit the theme of your wedding, but more importantly your personal tastes too (The Bride and Groom)! Keep in mind however, your guests may be of various ages and favour different musical styles to your own, so it is a good idea to keep it mixed, especially for the after party, so that everyone gets a good boogie during the course of the night! Some couples may choose to take requests from Guests, especially the immediate family and friends, so that they feel a little more personally involved in choosing the wedding music.

You also have the choice of live music, a wedding Dj, or combination of the two, let us offer you some suggestions to help you decide how the music will contribute to your big day!

Coming down the Isle.

The Isle music should be music that is personal to you, or reflects the theme of your wedding, many people choosing Spain as a wedding destination, may incorporate an element of Spanish music into this part of the day. Spanish and Classical guitar is also a popular choice for Weddings throughout the World. You may choose another form of instrumental background music, a singer, choir, or simply a Dj! In this age of modern technology, we have also seen people simply renting a PA system and plugging in an Ipad to play their favourite tunes!

In any case, the music for your run up to the wedding ceremony and your walk down the isle, would generally be Romantic, or sophisticated, sometimes traditional to reflect a culture. You may just choose the wedding march for your isle walk. However, that is not always the case, I have seen people walk the isle to all sorts of musical styles, personal preference is the key here, it's YOUR wedding! Even if you are happy to leave the background music to your musician or Dj, we think it's nice to make at least the Processional (walk down the isle) and Recessional (end of service) song your own!

Cocktail hour and Dining.

Again it's good to create a warm musical ambience to this part of the day, some classical guitar, a saxophonist, keyboard or just some of your favourite easy listening music played through an audio system. They style of music you choose can change the mood considerably, think "chill out" for this part of the wedding day and you will not go far wrong!

While you are eating.

Again, Keep it relaxed, some nice easy listening background music is all you really need during the dining, people love to talk over food too, so keep volumes moderate. Relax and enjoy that meal, the party is coming soon! In our opinion, live entertainment may be a little wasted during the wedding dinner, people are often more interested in the food and socialising, than the musical treat you have put on for them, but music is still essential for the ambience. Tasteful background music played at low levels through a professional audio system is probably all that is required during this part of your wedding festivities.

The First Dance!

Just one more wedding tradition to get through and then you can let down your hair and party! Some couples already know their first dance the moment it is mentioned, usually it is a song that has meaning to the couple, something they smooched to when they first met, for example. If you have a band or musician for the evening, then you may need to choose the first dance from their set list, although some will learn a song for you, given enough time.

A Dj is more flexible and will normally obtain the track for you, but then it offer you endless choice, which can make deciding even harder for some couples.  Romantic love songs are a feature of most weddings. The slower tempo of love songs is ideal for the first dance by the bride and groom and also for the father-daughter dance.
